Etna Hiking 3000 meters is one of the most exciting experience to be done on Etna.  Look, hear, feel, breathe, “taste” Etna in it’s true essence reaching the highest craters, the most active over the last thousands of years.

Form quota 1900 meters above sea level, you will get aboard of Etna’s Cable car to reach quota 2500 meters.

Once on the arrival station, you will be left breathless looking at the landscape: a clear view of all the Sicilian eastern coast line and during good days also Calabria.

Together with one of our expert guides you will be making a short walk around the side craters, still hot and steamy, protagonist of the well known eruption dated back 2002.

This area is also a perfect sight to assist to an eventual eruption, understanding more the Volcano.

During this excursions it is also planned to visit a lava flow cave. Getting into the heart of the volcano, where melted lava used to run, you will learn how exactly a volcano works.

The Etna 3000 excursions, because of the high quota and relative high mountain weather conditions, is NOT suggested to people affected of cardiorespiratory diseases and children below 9 years of age.

Itinerary

• Departure from your accommodation or meeting point 
• Reach Etna South slope, near by Rifugio Sapienza lodge 
• Transfer with Cable Car up to quota 2500 meters above sea level ( 8200 ft )
• Walk up to quota 3000 meters above sea level or other available quota 
• Back to the cable car station
• If possible visit an interesting lava cave 
• Back to your accommodation / meeting point
